Cretan Experience

We start our day with a visit to a typical Theme park for Cretan art crafts, with 22 craftsmen showing the making of various types of hand made ceramics, the art of decorating all the crafts, traditional barrels,etc. located in the village of Anopolis. Our tour proceeds to one of the oldest Monasteries, AGARATHOS. The monastery had an educational role, and many high priests studied and preached there. The visitor can see parts of the monastery, like the cells, the main church and a magnificent Church Museum with precious objects. The monks nowadays are working in the monastery’s fields, growing a lot of organic products. The monastery suffered a lot from the various invaders, the worse being from the Ottomans. In 1935, the church was declared as a preserved monument. An old church dedicated to St. Raphael is located outside the courtyard.
Our next stop is a renowned winery, where the guests can try various local wines, with some local specialties. A tour of the vineyard will take place explaining the varieties produced and the relevant information.
